To learn more about Mission Technologies, click here for a short video: Job Description HII - Mission Technologies is looking to hire an Army Helicopter Sr. Liaison Engineer for Australia to provide technical support for the Army Futures Command and the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Division (AMED). The Army's AMED provides its engineers and analysts the opportunity to gain experience in various programs, including Research & Development, Fielding & Implementation, and Sustainment Engineering programs supporting the DoD Aerospace Industry. In addition, HII engineers and analysts set the standard of professional and ethical conduct and participate in diverse professional development opportunities. The position will support Australia from Corpus Christi, Texas, and transition to onsite in Australia approximately after the first year. Essential Job Responsibilities Create structural repair and modification documentation including detailed repair instructions and substantiation analysis in support of rotary aircraft or unmanned aircraft systems. Review damage data, and engineering drawings to ensure efficient load path and adequate structural strength and stiffness for repairs and modifications.
Utilize engineering principles, methodology, procedures, and integration of the same into engineering projects using systems, materials, mechanical, or aerospace engineering practices.
Provide government engineers with expert advice, analysis, and research for the repair of rotary aircraft or unmanned aircraft systems structures and components.
Provide structural analysis and technical dispositions for aircraft maintenance discrepancies that exceed published structural damage limits (including sheet metal and composite repairs). Provide work deviation authorization, interpretation of service documents, and Engineering Orders.
Provide aircraft repair options considerate of limiting factors such as, but not limited to, availability of parts, on-station repair capability, and cost.
Provide on-site engineering assistance and troubleshooting for on-station aviation units.
Monitor and document recurring discrepancies requiring corrective action. Attend production meetings and coordinate with required stakeholders for project support.
Expected travel 20-35%
Minimum Qualifications 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 4 years relevant experience with Ph.D. or Juris Doctorate in a related field.
Proficient in the application of engineering principles and analysis to develop and evaluate airworthiness engineering dispositions.
Proficient at performing structural analysis to substantiate repairs.
Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule to meet the internal customer's needs and maximize the operational capabilities of local aviation units.
Self-motivated, conscientious, and able to prioritize multiple tasks.
Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Possess strong listening, oral communication skills, and proficient in writing detailed technical substantiation analyses, reports, and briefings.
Proficient in MS Office and related software/programs.
Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Requirements 17 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 15 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 13 years relevant experience with Ph.D. or Juris Doctorate in a related field.
Bachelor's or greater in Aeronautical, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
10 or more year's relevant engineering experience in support of DoD Aviation Maintenance Programs.
Strong knowledge of Federal Acquisitions Regulations, Federal Aviation Administration policies, aviation maintenance manuals, and technical documentation organic to the U.S. Army and aircraft OEMs.
Possess an active Department of Defense Security Clearance. Immediate availability to assume the position.
Physical Requirements Office, industrial, and aviation flight line environment.
Perform on-aircraft inspections that may require bending and stretching to assess sections requiring repair. Lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for a one-person lift.
