Job Description Summary The Advanced Programs section is responsible for the invention, design, development, vehicle integration, testing, and support of advanced technologies and new and derivative engine concepts. Technology focus areas include military inlet & exhaust systems, integrated propulsion power and thermal management systems, advanced material systems, and other breakthrough component and propulsion system technologies aimed toward advanced military applications. Job Description Essential Responsibilities: The Subsection Manager for Advanced Military IR/Thermal Design will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives, particularly as related to driving standard work and program execution for the Advanced Military IR/Thermal Design team. In this role you will lead, grow, and contribute to a team of highly capable engineers in the development of advanced components and systems demonstration programs. You will have overall process responsibility for a critical differentiated technical discipline and must work seamlessly and collaboratively with government customers, airframers, GE Research, and GE Aerospace stakeholders to drive execution on technical objectives across a variety of company and customer funded programs. In addition, you will: Manage Advanced Military IR/Thermal Design & test team manpower, scope, budget, and technical execution metrics across a variety of company and customer funded programs.
Be accountable for monitoring and communicating project status, business issues, and significant developments as appropriate.
Be accountable for analytical methods development and development & documentation of design process standard work.
Work collaboratively with Defense & Systems and Defense Engineering (DE) leadership to develop and ensure alignment/accuracy of technology roadmaps.
Shape and contribute to technical solutions that align next generation warfighter needs with applicable technology development roadmaps.
Lead section, department, and enterprise initiatives in design, materials, manufacturing, quality and/or productivity; communicate with section leadership and drive execution.
Develop standard work, operating metrics, and supporting analyses to drive execution and corrective actions.
Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical and program requirements, schedules, and contract commitment.
Integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.
Assist in developing new business opportunities by leading and contributing to proposal efforts. Ensure and be accountable for accuracy of Form7 inputs.
Facilitate communication of technical and business information between organizations and within the work group.
Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis and presentation of data to internal and external GE customers.
Communicate with management on technical, organizational, resource, and personnel issues.
Ensure company compliance initiatives and training requirements are implemented within the sections Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant engineering position
Minimum of 3 years of GE Aerospace experience
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance at the Secret level or higher
Only current employees within the Aerospace Engineering Division will be considered. Desired Characteristics: Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Physics from an accredited university or college
Experience with engine/aircraft integration, engine component/systems design, engine performance, engine controls, and vehicle power/thermal systems
Experience working with DoD customer and processes
Experience managing DoD EVM projects
Experience with GE Aerospace financial and program management tools
Strong track record of ability to work in a team environment with demonstrated leadership and customer interface skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead by influence
