Overview:
The Communications Testing Coordinator will be responsible for the management of the Transmission substation lab. This individual will be responsible for maintaining substation communication and automation assets including but not limited to substation relays, substation communication equipment, network equipment (including routers, switches and firewalls outside of the IT organizations prevue). The Communications Testing Coordinator will coordinate lab setup and testing to integrate existing IT and OT concepts into a homogeneous network enabling PPL to move its existing infrastructure into a state-of-the-art resilient grid.
Responsibilities:
Assists in architectural design of grid modernization projects providing technical and physical support to other departments.
Promotes and supports all company goals and objectives, while conducting all activities with cost awareness and fiscal responsibility.
Assists and/or supervises the installation, setting, testing, and verifying the correct operation of all equipment in the lab.
Assists in the verification of the correct installation and performance of all equipment in the lab.
Assists in the functional testing of new wiring to ensure correct design and performance based on automation and modernization projects.
Create architectural diagrams and work with IT to implement new technologies to assist in automation and grid modernization
Coordinate with IT to ensure network connectivity and resources are allocated to meet objectives
Manage the timely completion of all maintenance and lab safety related documentation.
Other projects and duties as assigned.
Will be assigned a PPL Electric Utilities emergency and storm role. This is a special assignment that is activated during storms and other emergencies.
Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor of science degree in a technical related discipline.
Experience
A minimum of two years of related technical experiences.
Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Must have demonstrated analytical skills and ingenuity.
Must have a high degree of mechanical ability.
