As a Human Factors Engineer, you will be using your skills and expertise to research, design, test, certify, and improve cutting edge products and services. You'll be identifying and implementing human engineering design criteria for systems, ushering them from operational concept through preliminary and detailed design, simulation, and test using progressive tools. As a cross-functional engineer, you are in charge of system-level ownership of new products and processes through the product life cycle. This includes overseeing both FAA and Military human factors arenas, being the subject matter expert for human factors engineering design, and direct interaction and engagement with the customer. The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Responsibilities: Leading the human factors engineering effort
Advising Engineering on all aspects of human factors engineering
Participating in customer meetings at the Senior Leadership level
Status work activity as a Control Account Manager
Communicating status of the human factors engineering program to the customer
Performing qualitative and quantitative human factors engineering analyses that fulfill customer requirements Must-haves: Bachelor's of Science degree in System Engineering or related discipline and typically 14 or more years of relevant experience
Higher education may substitute for relevant experience
Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices
Progressive experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
Advanced understanding of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles
Experience with human factors engineering, human engineering, and/or human systems integration engineering for aviation programs, both civil and military
Experience independently executing functional responsibilities for small to medium sized programs
Experience applying MIL-STD-1472 or similar processes to the development of systems, hardware, or software
Experience with creation of a Human Engineering Systems Analysis Report (HESAR), Human Engineering Design Approach Document-Operators (HEDAD-O), Human Engineering Design Approach Document-Maintainers (HEDAD-M), Human Systems Integration Report (HSIR), or Human Engineering Program Plan (HEPP)
Experience with qualitative and/or quantitative human factors analyses
Ability to Obtain and Maintain a Top Secret Clearance Preferred: Ability to independently execute functional responsibilities for large programs
Experience using DO-372, DOT/FAA/TC-16/56, AC 00-74, AC 20-175, or AC 25-1322-1 for design development
Experience developing human factors analyses for software systems
Experience with agile development
Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using Cameo, Matlab / Simulink or similar
Experience mitigating human factors risks through design changes, fault detection, usage restrictions, and training
Experience in aircraft systems development
Experience writing analyses to meet regulation- or customer-driven requirements
Experience tailoring analyses or requirements to fit size, complexity, schedule, and budget of program
Experience writing and implementing policy
Active Top Secret Clearance Estimated Starting Salary Range: $159,430.15 - $219,216.46.
