The Opportunity:
This Associate position is a hybrid Management / Business Development position for the Aerospace market approximately splitting time 50/50 between the two functions.
The position is responsible for performing business development activities in the commercial, civil and national security space arena while also performing traditional project management functions.
As a Sr Project Manager, this individual will be responsible for conforming a project to the client's requirements, meeting scheduled milestone dates, internal and external budget constraints, and participating in the selection of subconsultants and delivery of a quality project. This position must be capable of implementing the necessary management techniques required to fulfill this responsibility for the specific project. The Sr. Project Manager role typically manages multiple low risk projects simultaneously and/or mid-sized projects that are relatively low risk.
This role requires independent judgment in evaluation, selection, and adaptation/modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria, and must be able to independently solve problems, coordinate disciplines, and make decisions, receiving technical guidance on unusual or complex issues.
As a business development professional, this Associate will be responsible for working with the leader of the Aerospace & Equipment Service Group to develop and execute strategies to increase business growth and profits by identifying strategic and profitable business opportunities, securing sound business partnerships and projects, and leading various business development efforts, including external facing entity/organization participation, conferences, and intellectual thought leadership activities.
Determines the needs and expectations of the client and oversees the project to ensure all needs are met. This includes establishing project requirements; communicating requirements to the other members of the project team; ensuring the team delivers a final product which meets those requirements; and maintaining client satisfaction.
Develops a detailed scope of work, budget, and schedule to communicate the project plan with the project team, ensuring everyone is clear on the objectives and shared goals.
Directs the project team through all phases of the project to achieve the desired results within the established budget and schedule.
Negotiates scope and fee with the client under the guidance/direction of a project officer. Recommends alternative solutions if project objectives cannot be achieved and contractual obligations cannot be met.
Serves as a point of contact for the client and liaison with the project team throughout the duration of the project. May provide status updates.
Provides technical direction and coordination of the project team.
Provides an exceptional client experience to support marketing efforts to secure repeat business from existing clients and work from new clients.
Evaluates various business growth needs, especially when there is a push into new business environments and provides insight into service development and competitive positioning.
Understands business opportunities, competitive landscape, and industry trends. Provides recommendations around achievement of business goals, including enhanced service delivery and improved profit making.
Provides recommendations around the most viable, cost-effective approach to pursue new business opportunities. Recommends process improvements to enhance the client experience, proposal process, and win rate.
Meets with potential clients and strategic industry partners to present firm offerings and negotiate business deals. Develops and fosters strong relationships with key stakeholders and clients.
Collaborates with associates across the firm to ensure cross-collaboration towards execution of business plans and business development activities.
Leads and supports programs focused on business development, including market plans and business evaluation. This may include industry organization memberships, conferences, and industry intellectual thought leadership roles.
Basic Qualifications:
Have a bachelor's degree from an accredited program and 10 years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Be proficient with Microsoft Office.
Possess strong attention to detail, commitment to follow through, and ability to work independently following general direction and oversight from leadership.
Be able to multi-task, prioritize workload, set priorities, and manage multiple projects and assignments.
Have strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to and understand people in a courteous and professional manner.
Possess the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships, demonstrate professional courage, and guide and influence others.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Engineer, Registered Architect or Interior Designer, and/or Licensed General Contractor is preferred.
Have a passion for project management. PMP certification is preferred.
