Job Purpose
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager, Enterprise Data Platform to lead our data architecture, data engineering, and data governance efforts within our renewable energy business. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and managing the company's data infrastructure, including our data lake, data warehouse, and ETL solutions. This role will play a pivotal part in ensuring data quality, enabling master data management, and supporting the technology stack that drives our data-driven decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Business AlignmentCollaborate with senior leadership to define and execute a data strategy that aligns with the company's renewable energy business goals and overall vision.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive roadmap for data architecture and data platform enhancements that support current and future business needs.
Identify opportunities to leverage data for business growth, analytics, and operational efficiencies.
Data Architecture & EngineeringDesign and oversee the implementation of scalable data architectures that support data integration, processing, and storage across various business functions, data types, and datasets.
Lead the management of the data lake and data warehouse environments, ensuring high performance, scalability, and security.
Drive the development, optimization, and maintenance of ETL processes to ensure timely and accurate data delivery across the organization.
Data Governance & Master Data ManagementEstablish and enforce a data governance framework that ensures data consistency, accuracy, security, and compliance with industry regulations.
Lead the implementation and management of master data management (MDM) systems, ensuring the centralization and standardization of critical data assets.
Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to define data policies, standards, and best practices that align with business objectives.
Data Quality ManagementImplement data quality management processes to ensure the integrity, reliability, and accuracy of data across all systems.
Continuously monitor and improve data quality metrics, identifying and resolving data discrepancies and issues.
Lead initiatives to enhance data quality and drive a culture of data excellence throughout the organization.
Technology Stack & InnovationEvaluate, select, and integrate new technologies and tools into the data platform to enhance data processing capabilities and support advanced analytics.
Stay abreast of emerging trends in data technology and renewable energy, driving innovation and ensuring the company remains at the forefront of the industry.
Manage relationships with technology vendors, ensuring the timely delivery of solutions and adherence to budget constraints.
Leadership & Team DevelopmentLead and mentor a team of data engineers, architects, and analysts, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Provide guidance and support for career development, skill enhancement, and professional growth within the team.
Drive cross-functional collaboration with IT, analytics, and business teams to ensure data platform initiatives are aligned with organizational goals.
Day-to-Day Task ManagementOversee daily operations of the data platform, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security via agile methodologies.
Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets to ensure the successful delivery of data platform initiatives.
Conduct regular reviews of data infrastructure and processes, implementing improvements and optimizations as needed.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience/Qualifications Required
Educational Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field or demonstration of equivalent work experience is required as a minimum. A Master's degree is preferred.
Work Experience
8+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or data management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Experience in the renewable energy sector is a plus.
Qualifications
Experience in the renewable energy sector or a related industry is highly desirable.
Proficiency in data platform technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks), programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, Spark), cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP), Git repositories (e.g. Azure Dev Ops, GitHub) and governance platforms (MSFT Purview).
Proven experience leading and mentoring technical teams, with a track record of successful project management and delivery.
Ability to align data initiatives with business goals and drive long-term strategic planning.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in data science tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, Spark, SQL).
Strong understanding of data architecture, data warehousing, and ETL processes (e.g., Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse, Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake, FiveTran, dbt, etc.)
Proficiency with Git repos (Azure Dev Ops, GitHub), SDLC, sprint planning and agile methodologies.
Experience with BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and data visualization best practices.
Experience with governance platforms and documentation tools (e.g. Purview).
Proficiency with collaboration and mapping tools (e.g. Lucid Spark, Lucid Chart).
Experience with project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Monday, Lucid Chart, Lucid Spark).
The expected starting pay range for this role is $118,000 - $160,000 USD. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern's compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, life insurance, voluntary benefits, family care benefits, employee assistance program, paid time off and bonding leave, paid holidays, 401(k)/RRSP retirement savings plan with employer contribution, and employee referral bonuses.
