CapeZero is looking for a high-performing Django/Python Software Engineer to join our small team. As a backend Software Engineer, you will be responsible for building and improving our digital platform. You will work closely with financial modeling experts, other software engineers, product designers, and other stakeholders to build a robust backend system.

Responsibilities

Defining features and implementation specifications based on business requirements, working closely with the founders

Understand the nuances of project finance and translate modeling needs to a robust backend data model and hence APIs that power the platform

Identifying enhancements and modifications that improve product quality

Fixing bugs, adding automated unit tests, and improving the usability/design of the APIs

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, test, and maintain web-based software applications using Django/Python.

Design and implement data models and build on top of PostgreSQL

Develop highly available and scalable RESTful APIs using Django Rest Framework (DRF)

Help maintain automated testing and CI/CD pipelines using tools like Github Actions

Participate in code reviews, bug triage, and provide feedback on technical designs.

Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and learning for oneself and team members.

Requirements

5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on developing web-based applications using Python and Django.

In-depth experience with Django Rest Framework (DRF).

High proficiency in Git, Docker, and Linux systems.

Experience with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern JavaScript frameworks (specifically React).

Knowledge of database design, SQL optimization, and NoSQL databases

Strong understanding of software testing and test-driven development

Experience with modern DevOps practices, such as continuous integration, delivery, and deployment. Experience with Fly, Railway, Render, or other modern cloud platforms preferred.

Some experience with Pandas will be very handy.

Nice-to-haves:

Previous experience working on a B2B SaaS product

Knowledge of a CSS preprocessor (LESS/Sass)

Experience with E2E QA/Testing using

Open source contributions

University degree in Computer Science or related engineering field
