Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Communications Technician for the USV Operations and Sustainment program supporting Astrion Navy Division.
JOB DETAILS
LOCATION: San Diego, California
JOB STATUS: Full-Time
TRAVEL: Some travel may be required
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Current active Secret Clearance or Must be eligible to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.
CITIZENSHIP: Current U.S. Citizenship Required.
CERTIFICATIONS: N/A
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
5+ years managing technical programs for US Navy, USCG, or DoD maritime projects.
10+ years' experience as a technician for military communications equipment
Experience operating, maintaining, and repairing RF equipment
Strong troubleshooting and familiarity in VHF, UHF, and SHF band RF equipment
Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and technical diagrams
Experience operating, maintaining, and repairing Satellite Communications equipment
Eligible for a Secret security clearance
Physically able to work on small boats and ships
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
Current Secret security clearance
Experience in a leadership role within a communications department
Experience with cryptographic equipment and procedures
Experience with unmanned systems
RESPONSIBILITIES
Install and operate line-of-sight and SATCOM digital communications equipment
Handle and load cryptographic equipment
Support at-sea testing of unmanned systems for the US Navy.
Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Collab with Navy engineers, private contractors, and third-party vendors to integrate new communication systems into ships network.
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior communications technicians
Coordinate daily communications, team operations and tasking.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation on all communication systems, configurations, equipment maintenance, and repair actions.
SALARY RANGE: Estimated $85,000 - $95,000 USD annually
depending on experience, certifications, and qualifications
