Job Description

Select's Engineering Intern is a part-time position supporting Select's Engineering Team. This employee will get hands-on experience working with cutting-edge technology. This role provides a great opportunity to accelerate an engineer's development with involvement working directly with equipment, managing time and priorities, and providing feedback to Engineering Team.

The essential job functions include, but are not limited to
  • Provide direct support to the engineering manager regarding technological development, operations, and solutions used in the company
  • Learn and operate Select's existing technology solutions
  • Help develop new technology for complex problems facing the company
  • Provide technical and operational support to field automation personnel
  • Work alongside engineers and technicians
  • Assist in testing and evaluation for new products and projects
  • Find system solutions for areas of expertise
  • Ensure quality of product is a focus for all engineering development and operations. Develop procedures, standards and guidelines that support the delivery of a quality product
  • Maintain an organized, efficient, and safe working environment

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
  • Currently seeking a B.S. in Engineering (Electrical or Chemical preferred) or have an A.S. in an engineering or technical subject
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proficient and proactive verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite - Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Strong process development skills. Able to identify and resolve complex issues
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with limited supervision with strong initiative and finishing skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to achieve deadlines in a changing environment
  • Hands on attitude able get things to a successful conclusion

Physical Demands and Exposures

The Company will supply adequate training and equipment to perform the functions of the job.
  • Work is regularly performed in outside weather conditions, including rain and extreme cold and heat, near moving mechanical parts; exposure to high wind, ice, snow, wet and/or humid conditions, vibration, and dust is expected.
  • Exposure to noise levels requiring the use of hearing protection.
  • Prolonged sitting, standing, walking.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to individually lift: Maximum 50 lbs.
