Summary

Position is part of the Corporate Logistics Team located in Troy, MI. Responsibility of the team includes, but not limited to, the establishment of the Logistics vision, mission, strategies, processes, procedures, training/development and compliance thereof with oversight of our 10 manufacturing plants in North America.

This position involves supporting new launches and projects in production, finding best feasible packaging options with the plant / customer approvals. Provide packaging quotes for acquisitions. Work on cost saving potentials, reduction of expendable cost at the plants, and support RFID container tracking systems. Plant onsite support for buy-offs and issues that may arise.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Support launches and projects in production, from a packaging perspective
  • Design and purchase cost-effective and compliant returnable and expendable packaging systems through interaction with operations, production, quality, safety and purchasing departments
  • Coordinate packaging trials for qualification, validation and approvals internally and externally
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound packaging with packaging engineers on assigned programs
  • Foster effective communications across all North American plants to ensure smooth operations
  • Identify opportunities with current production packaging concepts and implement savings
  • Support packaging tracking
  • Update SAP with packaging info
  • Develop and communicate in real time and historically the impact of packaging process improvements based on predefined KPI's and drive a positive trend
  • Conduct training with plant users on how to maintain Customer Packaging Portals
  • Facilitate packaging processes workshops with the Central and Plant packaging coordinators and establish Regional Packaging Guidelines
  • Keep plant logistics teams informed on program progress and issues - ensure feasibility of logistic settings for plant
  • On-site plant support when required

Qualifications
  • Working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain or Engineering
  • Experience with all Microsoft office applications preferred
  • Demonstrate ability to handle multiple projects in interdisciplinary teams
  • Advanced communication and problem solving skills
  • Strong initiative and cost awareness.
