Job Description
The Network Engineer will execute expert level support for LAN/WAN/Network and provide remediation for computer-based problems and peripherals.
Roles & Responsibilities
Level 2 support for Network Infrastructure Security via Merakis network appliances.
Preventive maintenance upgrades on Network Operating Systems (NOS).
Monitor and revise Network Management System (NMS).
Uphold a 802.11b/g/n wireless infrastructure for Voice/Data/Video/Asset tracking.
Support and perform routing (L3) and switching (L2) functions as required by the Network Manager.
Provide support on a variety of computing and application services such as e-mail, Enterprise Network archiving/backup, remote VPN access, Windows OS upgrades, Storage Area Networks (SANS), support desktop/server Virtualization via VMware.
Assures that all computers and associated equipment in the Data Center are operational and performs related Data Center duties.
Interfaces with Managers and staff on day-to-day operations and new projects.
Troubleshoot problems at remote regional offices via remote access or onsite.
Qualifications & Experience
BS in Network Engineer, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
Work experience as a Network Engineer of at least 3-5 years.
Strong knowledge routers, switches, load balancing and security concepts.
VLAN, IP/ARP/MAC/Spanning-tree issues and configurations.
Troubleshooting VLAN or physical connectivity for servers and other devices.
Troubleshooting security policies, NAT rules and other firewall configurations.
Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, flags and ability to troubleshoot connectivity issues using Wireshark, TCPdump and other tools.
Analytical and detail oriented.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to work well in a collaborative team atmosphere.
A passion for technology.
Knowledge of Security principles and familiarity with frameworks.
