The Opportunity:
Immerse yourself in cutting-edge technologies while serving as a strategic technical consultant to the Department of Energy's Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) and other energy clients. As a life cycle assessment (LCA) modeling expert on our team, you will help assess next generation energy and agricultural technologies as well as carbon drawdown strategies to improve efficiencies and reduce environmental impacts, including Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, by guiding the design, evaluation, and management of government and private sector sponsored Research and Development (R&D) programs. Your insights will also help inform our clients about emerging carbon markets and technology needs to help support them. On our team, you will broaden your skill set in areas such as agriculture, mining, transportation, materials, energy generation and distribution, and carbon capture to expand your knowledge of low-carbon agriculture, fuels, chemicals, ores, and services for accelerated technology commercialization. You will engage and collaborate with a diverse group of technology experts to identify and quantify technical approaches that have the lowest carbon intensities while also conducting hotspot analyses. You will investigate both engineered and nature-based carbon removal technologies, and you will model the impacts of a wide range of energy and manufacturing technologies. You Have: 5+ years of experience with authoring technical papers, reports, or program plans for technical and non-technical audiences on research pertaining to life cycle assessment (LCA) using a variety of allocation and impact assessment methods Experience with research towards emissions quantification, building life cycle inventories, and identifying opportunities for emissions reductions through modeling Knowledge of life cycle assessment (LCA) or techno-economic analysis (TEA) modeling of energy and bio-energy systems, including tracking biogenic and non-biogenic material flows Ability to perform screening life cycle assessments (LCAs) or techno-economic analyses (TEA) for a variety of energy systems that serve to identify hot spots, areas of uncertainty, and opportunities for significant impact reduction quickly and efficiently Ability to travel up to 15% of the time Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements Doctorate degree Nice If You Have: 2+ years of experience in postdoctoral, academic, or industry roles related to chemical engineering, biochemical engineering, environmental engineering, life cycle assessment (LCA) consulting, EPD development, or net-zero and carbon-negative manufacturing 2+ years of experience in industry roles distinguishing and translating WRI GHG Protocol Scope emissions and life cycle GHG emissions of differing system boundaries Experience with carbon offset markets Ability to translate life cycle assessment (LCA) or techno-economic analysis (TEA) research and results clearly and succinctly to both experts and non-experts with academic and industrial backgrounds Ability to demonstrate creativity and resourcefulness when dealing with uncertainty and ask insightful questions that challenge traditional thinking Ability to identify likely environmental impact hotspots with a brief description of a new or proposed technology or process quickly Possession of excellent organizational, client service, and analytical skills Clearance:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $60,400.00 to $137,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
