Shipboard Corrosion Technician
Position Summary:
Life Cycle Engineering is seeking an experienced Shipboard Corrosion Technician to join the LCE team supporting Structural and Corrosion aspects of shipboard tanks, voids, spaces, compartments, and topside structures in Norfolk, VA. In this role you will provide technical support, assessments, corrective actions, and training to ship's force.
Clearance Requirements:
Must be a US citizen with an active DoD Secret security clearance.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Provide assessment status and operational checks of equipment and systems
Identify and document system and/or equipment problems
Correct and/or repair identified discrepancies and required corrective actions
Identify and document design problems
Identify and document logistic support deficiencies and recommend corrective actions
Develop and provide on-the job training (OJT) to Ships Force personnel
Verify configuration data and existing 2 Kilos for accuracy
Develop test specifications
Required Education, Skills and Experience:
Current NACE-certified Shipboard Corrosion Assessment Technician (S-CAT)
High School Diploma.
At least eight (8) years' experience with the installation, repair, testing and maintenance of tanks, voids, spaces/compartments and topside areas of naval vessels.
Experience in the assessment, repair, and maintenance of tanks, voids, spaces/compartments and topside areas on US Naval ships.
Minimum of four (4) years specialized hands-on experience working and inspecting ship structures, intakes and exhaust and have knowledge of welding requirements as defined in NASEA Standard Items.
Have experiece with sheet metal, preservation, insulation, piping and electrical systems on Navy Ships.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Physical Demands & Expectations:
Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 75 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting
Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance
Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
