Dexian has been engaged to identify a Senior Mechanical Engineer who has a passion for Mechanical design and creating custom machinery of the highest workmanship.
This position is 100% working onsite in the Southeast Los Angeles region.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will join a team of experienced Engineers who take pride in delivering "World-Class Equipment to World-Class Customers!" He/she will be responsible for designing custom machinery with quality, accuracy, and timeliness and collaborating with Electrical and Control Engineers as well as representatives from Project Management, Sales, and Purchasing to successfully develop products to each client's unique specification.

Scope of Responsibilities:
- Technology Development
- Conduct industry research
- Build awareness of emerging technologies
- Use supply base and internal development to bring new technologies from concept to reality
- New Products
- Contribute to the development of baseline project schedules
- Document project requirements
- Design products in SolidWorks CAD that meet functional specifications, manufacturing process objectives, cost targets, and schedules
- Generate piping and instrumentation diagrams in AutoCAD
- Verify designs provided by outside partners
- Utilize understanding of design for manufacturing and lean six-sigma
- Perform calculations and conduct finite element analyses to optimize and verify weldments and other structures
- Use best practices in design of frames, tanks, piping, exhaust systems, hoists, brackets, mechanisms driven by pneumatic and electric actuators, enclosures, welded sheet metal parts, piping, and other parts and assemblies
- Select appropriate key components and small parts such as bearings, seals, gearboxes, pumps, hardware, and other mechanical components
- Problem Solving
- Identify and solve complex technical issues
- Use industry established problem-solving methodologies
- Document resolutions
- Build and Test
- Support manufacturing throughout build process
- Write product test plans, oversee testing, and document outcomes
- Support system installation, troubleshooting and SAT testing
- Participate in site visits for commissioning and service
- Write operation and repair manuals
- Process Development
- Create and manage engineering documentation such as requirements, product specifications, and test plans to a high level of quality
- Develop standardized solutions for reduced cost and complexity
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field from an ABET accredited university
- 8+ years of product development engineering experience, preferably with heavy industrial equipment and machinery
- 4+ years of experience with SolidWorks CAD modeling, drawings, and PDM
- Experience developing ANSI compliant mechanical drawings
- Proficiency with structural finite element analysis of components and assemblies
- Highly effective verbal and written communication
- A strong affinity for teamwork and collaboration
- Skill with Microsoft Word for developing operation and maintenance manuals
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for engineering calculations
- Openness to learn in a fast-paced environment
- A strong sense of urgency, initiative, and drive
Preferred:
- Advanced knowledge and skill with process piping system selection, specification and design
- Experience with system installation and commissioning
- Expertise with piping and instrumentation diagram generation and use
- Knowledge of industrial safety and OSHA standards
- Master's degree in mechanical engineering
