Position Summary
The role of KES Technician is to perform full installations of our Demand Control Kitchen Ventilation system (DCKV) in commercial kitchens. DCKV is the process of measuring the level of cooking activity in commercial kitchen hoods and modulating the speed of the associated exhaust and supply fans to be used only as needed. By adjusting these units, these commercial kitchens save a tremendous amount of energy in their electrical, heating, and cooling usage. The KES Technician is the company's direct representative and will be responsible for properly executing the installation of these systems ensuring complete system functionality at the end of the project. KES Technicians will work together in teams of two to accomplish these tasks on each jobsite.
This work involves, but not limited to, the following scope of work:
Installing various sensors directly to the kitchen hoods (drilling into stainless steel).
Installing Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) to modulate the associated exhaust fans along with the proper power wiring (120V/1), (208V/3), (460V/3) as needed.
Installing and wiring new fan motors as needed.
Installing and wiring new exhaust fans as needed, and other associated low voltage wiring.
The KES Technician will program and commission the DCKV system and train the customer on functionality and usage.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Install all aspects of the DCKV system including but not limited to sensors into kitchen hoods, System Controller, VFDs, motors, exhaust fans, and all associated high and low voltage wiring.
Punctuality for job site arrivals. Each job may carry a unique start time around the kitchen operating hours with most work being overnight.
Effectively communicate with the Project Manager, National Installation Manager, and customers.
Maintain proper job site etiquette and follow OSHA safety guidelines.
Review job specifications, scope of work, submittals, blueprints, and safety requirements.
Meets project-specific deadlines.
Out of town travel is required on a frequent basis.
Responsible for proper care/maintenance of company-provided tools, vehicles, and test instruments.
Responsible for accurate reporting of systems functionality and proper closeout documentation.
Take pride in ownership of a project with an eagerness to see it through to completion.
Ability to problem solve quickly and find solutions to issues that arise during a project installation.
Qualifications
Must be 18 years or older.
High School Diploma or GED.
Excellent Driving Record.
Able to pass a background check and drug screen.
Basic computer / laptop skills.
Knowledge and experience with general construction (use of drills, mounting, electrical fittings, low and high voltage wiring, electrical breakers, etc.)
Strong desire to learn a new career in an extremely fast paced environment.
Ability to travel. Projects are located nationwide.
Good mechanical and mathematical aptitude.
Self-motivated with a desire to grow. Must possess a strong work ethic and high selfaccountability and integrity.
Excellent time management, critical thinking, and organization skills.
Works well under pressure in a very fast-paced environment.
Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal.
Must obtain OSHA 10- Construction Safety & Health online certificate before starting employment.
Experience with controls / control wiring a plus.
Physical requirements
Average lift capability of approximately 50 lbs.
Comfortable working in tight spaces.
Ability to work from heights and off of step ladders, extension ladders, and ship ladders of various heights up to 40 feet.
Must be comfortable working in active commercial kitchens with others.
Must have full operational use of both hands and feet, full vision and hearing.
Must always be able to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), including Hard Hats, Safety Vests, Eye Protection, Steel-Toed Work Boots, and company uniforms throughout the workday.
Must be able to drive a commercial vehicle safely.
