Matternet designs, builds and operates that enable ultra-fast, low-cost and zero-emission package delivery. We are seeking a UAV Operations Technician to join our growing team and assist with the launch of drone delivery operations in Mountain View, CA and beyond.
Our UAV Operations Technicians work closely with our Global Operations team and execute drone flights, test and operate UAV technology, and ensure the safety and airworthiness of aircraft. The role is challenging but rewarding, offering an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge drone technology in a fast-paced startup environment. You'll have the opportunity to grow quickly and make a significant impact. However, you should also be prepared for challenges, including fast pivots, ambiguity, and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
You Will:
Operate our proprietary drone technology at customer locations or test sites.
Support root-cause analyses for any potential failures or issues.
Ensure timely responses to problems reported by customers or during flight operations.
Monitor the airworthiness status of all active aircraft.
Monitor airspace for air traffic.
Perform daily and weekly inspections of drones and related equipment.
Complete on-site UAV testing and manage autonomous flight operations.
Communicate directly with customers, Air Traffic Control, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
FAA Part 107 Certification
Experience following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
Willingness to travel to various locations for drone operations and projects on short notice
Willingness to work flexible shift hours
Comfort working in fast-paced and high-pressure environments
Ability to think critically and respond to challenges
Great Additions:
Experience editing and implementing written procedures in highly regulated industries
Pilot's license or previous flying experience
Hands-on knowledge of multi-rotor UAV piloting
Willingness to help with technical writing, training or other responsibilities as needed
Proficiency in additional languages
University/ College degree
Work Conditions:
This is an in-person position
This role will require working outdoors with exposure to diverse weather conditions and temperatures
There may be prolonged periods of standing, bending, sitting, or kneeling
You will need to regularly lift and transport operational equipment up to 40 lbs
