Job Summary
The Project Manager is responsible for leading projects from late-stage development through Engineering-Procurement-Construction (EPC) contracting and construction, to completion and hand-off to Asset Operations Management. Responsible for managing multiple projects at a time and accountable for meeting project milestones and maintaining accurate project schedules and budgets including project Profit and Loss.
The Project Manager will be responsible for practicing the highest level of project management maturity in managing all project stakeholders including Project Development, Finance, Interconnection & Transmission, Performance Engineering, Owner's Engineer, Lenders Engineering Representative, Photovoltaic (PV) Contractors, Permitting Entities, specialty and task specific Contractors, Long Lead Equipment Suppliers, Lenders, Tax Equity Investors, Supply Chain, and other key stakeholders involved in the project.
Responsibilities
Oversee and manage all aspects of the project delivery process, ensuring adherence to project plans, budgets, and schedules.
Collaborate with project Development and Engineering on local, state, and federal permitting efforts to prepare the project for contracting and construction.
Work with Supply Chain in support of procurement efforts for long lead and owner-furnished materials including modules, racking, and inverters.
Be the commercial lead for the project from precon through substantial completion which includes participation in engineering site optimization discussions, reviewing CapEx and production data to ensure final design will meet the internal requirements.
Effectively communicate and collaborate with project stakeholders, including contractors, suppliers, permitting entities, lenders, tax equity investors, landowners, and other relevant parties to realize project value drivers.
Coordinate with Interconnection Project Manager on construction of Utility Switchyard and integration of Collector Substation and oversee implementation of Interconnection Services Agreement.
Coordinate or lead the remaining permitting process' and interface with regulatory authorities to secure remaining necessary permits and approvals.
Conduct routine site visits to monitor progress and ensure safety and quality standards are met.
Prepare regular progress reports, including project status updates, financial summaries, and risk assessments to both internal and external stakeholders to include PPA reporting and Lender reporting and communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
Assure rigorous quality assurance measures to ensure that project deliverables meet the highest standards and address any quality issues that may arise.
Identify and assess project risks and develop strategies to mitigate them effectively.
Prepare the project for a smooth hand-over to Asset Operations, ensuring all necessary documentation, reports, and data are provided, including Plant Commissioning, Operation, and Decommissioning.
Requirements
BS or MS Degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or similar related field of study.
Minimum of 8+ years of experience in construction project management
Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools,
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and manage complex project environments,
Strong financial acumen and ability to develop accurate project budgets,
Excellent oral and written communication skills,
Strong organizational capacity to simultaneously manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and be able to quickly adapt to changes and shift priorities to meet project needs,
Strong analytical skills, experience comparing supplier quotes, estimates, and negotiating contracts.
Preferred:
Experience working within a solar development or EPC company preferred.
Working knowledge of PV Design, Construction, and Materials preferred.
Knowledge of solar project construction schedules, cost and risk is preferred.
Proficiency in Procore is a plus.
Current or previous Project Management Institute's Project Management Professional certification or equivalent is a plus.
Location: This role is based in Houston with a hybrid/flexible office schedule. Position will require periodic trips for team meetings or site visits to support engineering, development, and construction activities.
