Position Overview Riverside Research is seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in integrating and fielding Counter Unmanned Systems (C-UxS) and related enabling technologies for joint defense applications. This individual will join a diverse team delivering cutting edge commercial technologies to the DoD and will leverage prior, related operator experience, knowledge of defense RDT&E fundamentals, and project management experience to prototype and scale collaborative Counter Unmanned Systems (C-UxS). Prior experience supporting commercial and DoD programs focused on countering autonomous systems, specifically counter Small-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-sUAS), counter Unmanned Maritime Systems (C-UMS), or counter Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS) is required. This position is located in Arlington, VA. All Riverside Research opportunities require U.S. citizenship. Responsibilities Lead collaborative teams in the design, execution, and management of projects focused on applying and integrating innovative commercial solutions to joint DoD problem-sets
Develop and execute acquisitions packages in accordance with best practices and prescribed policies and procedures, and support acquisition lifecycle activities resulting in prototype awards through execution, milestone delivery, modifications and close out
Provide technical and operational advice and assistance related to several autonomous systems projects, including multi-domain autonomous systems and related technologies including small UAS, robotics, counter UAS, AI, cybersecurity, AI, ML operations
Apply knowledge of technical systems and sensor platforms (eg. optical, acoustic, radar detection sensors), commercial software/DevSecOps processes, and AI algorithms to educate endusers , verify and validate commercial technology, and provide real-time feedback during tests and demonstrations
Manage relationships between DoD stakeholders, DoD and IC innovation ecosystems, and commercial entities required for successful program execution
Leverage defense innovation and/or end-user networks to identify DoD problems that could be solved by commercial autonomous solutions and lead problem curation, acquisition, and funding strategies with diverse sets of endusers, stakeholders, and policymakers
Participate in outreach and collaboration with commercial, industry, academia, other non-traditional vendors, DoD entities, program offices, and technical subject matter experts from these communities
Apply knowledge of relevant DoD technology policy and acquisition, and RDT&E lifecycles, as well as commercial best practices, and translate that to develop time-sensitive transition and DoD-wide scaling opportunities
Understand how the relevant acquisition and research arms of the military services develop technology priorities and how to translate that into the private sector Qualifications Required: Bachelor's Degree in technical or related field (Electrical Engineering, Math, Physics, Computer Science) and a minimum of 15 years of related experience. 12 years relevant experience with a Master's Degree in a technical/engineering field (e.g. electrical engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science) or business (e.g. MBA). or 8 yrs relevant experience with a PhD.
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in project or program management supporting RDT&E programs and national security missions.
Experience supporting Counter-Unmanned Systems (C-sUAS, C-UAS, C-UMS) technology development within the DoD enterprise
Demonstrated understanding of defense counter unmanned systems (C-UxS) technologies, platforms, functional testing procedures and protocols, and policies, including experience performing rapid-needs assessment, technology evaluation, and translation of technical requirements and broad problem-sets into fielded systems
Prior military experience or extensive defense industry experience that allows the candidate to curate problems and define requirements with military end users including Joint Staff, Service-level, and Combatant Command needs
Prior experience supporting and leading government and commercial vendor collaborative teams to rapidly iterate and deliver project tasks and milestones
Experience with and comfort in communicating with executive-level DoD leadership
Ability to work collaboratively within a cross-function team under tight deadlines and high pressure environments
Impeccable character
TS clearance and ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI
Desired: Prior military experience in Counter-Unmanned Systems that allows the candidate to curate problems and define requirements with military end users. Prior experience supporting and leading government and commercial vendor collaborative teams to rapidly iterate and deliver project tasks and milestones.
Experience with and comfort in communicating with executive-level DoD leadership Global Comp $150,000 - $220,000 This represents the typical compensation range for this position based on experience, location and other factors.
