Job Description US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED
This engineering position is for a systems engineer who is creative and excited to contribute to the development of space-borne payload systems to enable the advancement of knowledge in earth and planetary science, astrophysics, and national security. The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers' missions. Our collaborative, cross-functional teams are committed to innovation, integrity, continual learning and strong execution. What You'll Do: Support programs with payload system design, payload trades, payload integration and test, and post-delivery technical support.
Lead the development of the Environmental Design and Test Specification (EDTS) document
Perform systems engineering tasks throughout the program or Research and Development (R&D) project lifecycle.
Understand and lead the decomposition and allocation of electro-optical payload requirements to lower-level specifications. Refine requirements as necessary.
Responsible for payload system performance for compliance and verification of requirements.
Lead and perform analyses for the development of error trees and Technical Performance Measures (TPMs).
Manage system interfaces and lead the development of payload Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
Lead, with the coordination of AI&T engineers, the test configurations, verification approaches, and analysis plans necessary for payload verification.
Prepare and give presentations to peers, management, and/or customers.
Support program gates such as the Systems Requirement Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Functional Configuration Audit (FCA) and payload sell-off.
Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Perform other duties as necessary. On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required. Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
May access other facilities in various weather conditions. Required Education, Experience, & Skills BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 8 or more years related experience.
Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
Experience executing space based electro-optical systems from concept development and program kick- off through post-delivery support.
Demonstrated leadership skills-ability to coordinate activities of a diverse team, predict and meet schedules, resolve disconnects.
Excellent communication skills are essential, including the ability to understand the customer's needs and provide clear communication of proposed solutions to both company management and the customer. Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills Advanced computer application skills, such as Matlab, C, C++, IDL, STK, DOORS, and other analytical tools. Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $112420.000 - $191070.000 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
