BAE Systems is looking for an experienced Program Quality Engineer (PQE) who is excited to join a leading top tier global aerospace & defense enterprise as part of Controls & Avionics Solutions business area. This role is a full time, onsite position located in Endicott, NY. The PQE is responsible for ensuring seamless transition of projects through maturity phases (Proposal, Design, Production, Services, and Sustainment) and complies with BAE's established standards of quality including reliability, usability, and performance. The qualified candidate will have strong leadership and communications skills and the ability to engage with functional representatives across all levels of the organization. A significant responsibility of this position will be to interface with external Customer representatives and maintain effective relationships with these persons. In this job, you will:
Collaborate with project and contract administration teams to review and assess BAE compliance to Customer requirements. Assist program teams in negotiating and tailoring contract requirements to ensure compliance with company procedures and methods.
Champion and drive Continuous Improvement activities that support the ongoing effort to reduce scrap, rework and related Cost of Poor Quality
Demonstrate proficiency in root cause, corrective and preventive action processes (8D methodology).
Facilitate successful completion of Root Cause, Corrective and Preventive Actions associated with product nonconformances.
Coordinate internal management review and approval for disposition of Corrective Action Plans associated with External and Internal Corrective Action Requests (CAR's) Lead the Endicott Material Alert Board (MAB) as the primary Quality representative to ensure internal and external problem alerts and advisories (i.e. GIDEP's) are vetted and closed.
Support project plan/documentation development and other activities to establish the project's execution processes
Ability to devise sampling procedures and directions for recording and reporting quality data
Support the development and execution of Endicott's annual AS9100 audit plan, both internal and external audits. Ability to effectively teach/communicate quality principles and program requirements to others as required
Facilitate APQP activities and build quality into the product during early life development
Coordinate and control of non-conforming materials, including leading containment and disposition activities
Establish verification and validation processes for the inspection and acceptance of hardware, software, and data deliverables
Oversee the execution of Production Process Verification (PPV) / First Article Inspections (FAI)
Support the creation and execution of an effective AS9100 internal audit strategy to verify the conformance of processes in accordance with the QMS.
Support the maintenance and upkeep of all requisite quality records, and revision of approved quality plans and procedures to meet changing requirements.
Support the coordination and execution of monthly Corrective Action Boards (CABs) and Management Reviews.
Provide input to monthly management meetings covering status of quality metrics.
Create presentation materials and/or provide input to upper management for reporting to Customers and Government representatives
Coordinate and support customer audits to ensure process effectiveness and desired results. Facilitate corrective actions associated with any audit findings. Required Education, Experience, & Skills Bachelor's Degree and 4-8+ years of relevant work experience or 8-12 years of experience in lieu of degree
Strong communication and collaborative skills both within organization and the customer
Able to read and comprehend drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
Self-motivated and able to manage daily priorities with minimal oversight and direction
Experience with AS9100, AS9102 FAI, and AS9145 PPAP
Experience with a Quality Improvement Programs (Zero Defect, Lean Six Sigma, Operational Excellence, etc.)
Able to obtain security clearance if required in the future, Secret level Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills ASQ Certification: CQE/CQA/CQM
Green Belt/Black Belt Certified
Ability to create and manipulate Pivot tables and analyze data
Engineering or Technical degree Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $102200 - $173700 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
