We are seeking a Senior Autonomous Maritime Test and Evaluation Engineer for the Ocean Systems and Engineering Group. In this role, you will play a leading part in the development and testing of our nation's next generation of maritime systems, from development through integration and testing, both on-water and in model and simulation (M&S) environments. You will collaborate with a strong team from across government, industry, and academia to develop performance specifications, lead test programs, and build systems engineering products. As a member of our team, you will contribute to APL's legacy of scientific research, development, and trusted service to the nation. As a Senior Autonomous Maritime Test and Evaluation Engineer, you will: Apply innovative thinking to the design and development of a comprehensive T&E program for autonomous maritime systems.
Lead all aspects of the integration and testing of autonomous maritime systems to ensure compatibility and performance across various platforms and environments, this includes both on-water and M&S.
Work with multidisciplinary teams to develop methodologies to analyze test data and to identify trends, issues, and areas for improvement, making recommendations based on findings.
Perform technical and/or project leadership for small- to medium-sized technical tasks involving both hardware and software in-the-field T&E.
Ensure all T&E activities align with relevant standards, regulations, and best practices.
Prepare detailed technical reports, documentation, and presentations on test results, methodologies, and project status.
Collaborate with multiple DoD system partners to evaluate current strategies, risks, and opportunities, developing and implementing T&E strategies to refine and improve their programs and missions. Qualifications You meet our minimum requirements for the job if you: Have a BS in a technical or scientific field such as Systems Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Ocean Engineering.
Have 7+ years of senior engineering experience working with maritime systems, autonomous vehicles, or a related field.
Have proven ability to lead projects, including planning, execution, and delivery within scope.
Have familiarity with on-water testing of maritime systems, including test set up and execution.
Have familiarity with M&S tools and techniques.
Are passionate about system engineering methods and tools for maritime system development, integration, evaluation, and technology analysis.
Possess strong organizational and planning skills, with a track record of success in a team environment.
Have excellent interpersonal and outstanding written and oral communication skills.
Are able to work within the government infrastructure and take on leadership roles in a diverse environment of contractor and government teams.
Can support travel (up to 20%) required to attend meetings and testing.
Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by you start date and can ultimately obtain a final Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to Secret classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S citizenship.
You'll exceed our expectations if you: Have an MS or PhD in a technical or scientific field such as Systems Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Ocean Engineering.
