Role Summary
Engineering technicians, within the Electrical Hardware team, work side by side with engineers to support the development of our vehicle's electronic control modules and testers. Projects are open ended, evolve over time, and often have limited up front guidance. The ideal candidate for this role is an experienced electrical/engineering lab technician that is a critical thinker, with system level integration understanding; an expeditor, problem solver, and team player. Must have the ability to effectively communicate and escalate issues and be able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines. Must be comfortable wielding a soldering iron, harnessing and wire management, and troubleshooting of printed circuit boards and systematic problems. Candidate should have the ability to apply workplace organization concepts and methods to improve test methods and efficiency and collaborate amongst a team. Should be a leader and able to train others. Excellent written & verbal communication skills. Strong organization with meticulous attention to detail.
Responsibilities
General Lab Support
Perform diagnosis, rework, and repair of ECU's, PCB's, and testers, including prototypes and test bench setups (electrical/mechanical/software), to engineering specifications, current standards, and/or test procedures
Create documentation for evolving test and assembly processes, to include planning out how work will be executed and maintaining detailed records of all work performed
Verbal and written communication skills - able to understand and record reports, procedures, and status updates; able to communicate directly with engineers, manager, and other technicians to ensure a high level of technical support
Analytical problem-solving skills & root cause analysis with the ability to comprehend complexity of, and modify test sequences to identify failures, root cause issues, and optimize tester performance, maintenance, and networking
Ability to read and digest complex drawings and schematics of electrical systems and subsystems to trace signals within testers to identify and correct build errors including board & harness workmanship issues, EMI, grounding, RF issues, etc., and recommend corrective action or design improvements
Ability to fabricate test boards and to solder as small as 204 components
Willing and able to travel up to 25% both domestic and international
Flexibility to work long hours and weekends when required
Qualifications
6+ years of technician work experience in electronics/engineering labs
Technology/Technician degree or equivalent experience
Electric vehicle experience preferred
Strong electrical understanding
Soldering and harnessing skills
Low voltage electrical safety knowledge and training
Familiar with test equipment such as voltmeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, antennas
CAN network understanding
Strong technical ability
Experience with MS office tools (Outlook/Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Project)
Familiarity with Jira tools is a plus
IPC-610, IPC-620, IPC-7711, IPC-7721 or J-STD-001 certifications are a plus
