Machine Learning Engineer / Scientist - Trajectory Optimization Specialist
We are seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning (ML) Engineer / Scientist to join our team in developing cutting-edge trajectory optimization and ML predictive algorithms for autonomous vehicles supporting the Integrated Tactical Warning and Attack Assessment (ITW/AA) system. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in machine learning, data science, and trajectory optimization to design, develop, and deploy advanced algorithms that enable our systems to navigate complex environments and make timely and intelligent decisions. Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement ML models and algorithms for physics-based trajectory generation and prediction, including reinforcement learning, deep learning, generative adversarial network (GAN), and classical optimization techniques. Develop and optimize existing trajectory optimization algorithms for autonomous vehicles, considering factors such as safety, efficiency, and real-time performance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including aerospace engineers, software developers, and data scientists, to integrate trajectory optimization and predictive ML algorithms into our autonomous systems. Collect, preprocess, and analyze large datasets to train and validate trajectory predictive models, ensuring their robustness and reliability. Conduct research and stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in ML, trajectory optimization and predictions, and autonomous systems, applying new techniques and methodologies to improve our algorithms. Develop and maintain software infrastructure for trajectory optimization and ML predictive capabilities, including data pipelines, model deployment, and monitoring systems. Collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical feasibility. Qualifications:
Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or a related field, with a focus on machine learning, trajectory optimization, or autonomous systems. Strong experience in ML, including deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch), classical optimization techniques, and reinforcement learning, specifically in the aerospace flight domain. Experience optimizing and implementing physics-based trajectory algorithms for autonomous vehicles or robotics. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python (requirement), C++, and MATLAB. Proficiency in AWS SageMaker tools and S3 data lake queries using Python (preferred). Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret and visualize complex data to inform algorithm development and optimization. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment. Other Requirements:
US Citizen
Top Secret Security Clearance required, with SCI eligibility
(ideal) Former or experience with US Military or US missile warning Work Location: Hybrid
Must be located in the vicinity of Colorado Springs, Colorado If you are passionate about pushing the boundaries of autonomous systems and have a strong background in machine learning and trajectory optimization, we want to hear from you!
