Stryten uses a proven plastic injection molding methodology to produce critical automotive, motive and essential power battery components. Our light industrial facility in Columbus is hiring for a Tooling Manager.

Manage a team of technicians and an internal mold shop to fabricate, transfer, repair, maintain, update molds and production tooling to their optimum condition. Work within our facility to utilize a hands-on management approach for all responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Safety is our overriding priority. If an unsafe condition is found to exist, actions must be taken immediately to correct the situation to keep all team members safe and get manufacturing equipment operational as soon as possible.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and meet specified deadlines.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures including the use of PPE and safety equipment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, 5S, and other lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Continuously improve the general housekeeping, organization of equipment, tools, and supplies to keep workstations as efficient as possible.
  • Maintain an organized and efficient work area.
  • Plan, organize, delegate, and evaluate the work performed by the molds shop to achieve the Key Performance Indicator targets within the allocated budget.
  • Schedule and maintain the workload in the mold shop to achieve the daily operations plan.
  • Evaluate and develop outside mold shops for new molds, repair of current molds and maintaining spare parts.
  • Manage the design, build, qualification, and release of new molds.
  • Drive the establishment of mold maintenance standards.
  • Work closely with the processing & controls teams to develop fixtures, tools, and processes that support improved production efficiency and quality.
  • Establish an appropriate tracking and reporting system for mold storage and spare parts in SAP to determine minimum and maximum stock levels.
  • Establish and implement a Total Productive Maintenance System.
  • Develop specific training materials for technicians and technical operators and train them in a regular basis.
  • Develop standard operating procedure, Work Instruction and Safety measures for all the processes regarding molds and spare parts. Ensure all documentation, drawings, and process check sheets, are controlled and up to date.
  • Continuously improve the general housekeeping, organization of equipment, tools, and supplies to keep workstations as efficient as possible.
  • Plan and implement improvements to shop layout and equipment upgrades.
  • Must have the ability and willingness to work overtime on an as needed/required basis in order to complete work in process and communicate with other shifts.
  • Work within established policies, procedures, practices, and regulations.
  • Attend all required trainings and meetings.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned to meet the needs of the business.

Qualifications

Preferred Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred or 10+ years of experience in Mold Building/Maintenance.
  • Proficient in Solid Modeling (Inventor) and tool path generation
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Proven satisfactory work history (attendance and performance). This must be maintained.
  • Attendance is critical to this position.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
