We are seeking a Chief Engineer with a Bachelor's degree in a related Engineering field for our Long Range Effects (LRE) product line. You will be responsible for managing the the technical execution of current programs and developing technical road maps that align with the product line growth strategy. Our Long Range Effects group represents an enterprise strategic priority in the area of airborne weapon systems and is quickly establishing itself as a market leader. The group focuses on development and production of long range airborne effects meeting the emerging force mass gap in current DoD capability. As a Chief Engineer, you will be using your skills and technical expertise to shape the direction of our engineering and technology portfolio. You'll be responsible for providing expert consultation and guidance for difficult and complex technical designs. Your technical responsibilities during planning, organizing, and conducting projects involves acting as a subject matter expert in your engineering discipline, but also as a generalist for all aspects of engineering. You'll lead an energetic team of engineering personnel and have regular engagements both with the executive program team and the business development team to help formulate and execute a growth strategy. This role will be high energy, customer facing, and represents a strategic growth area for SNC. The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Its end-to-end Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities encompass design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training and complete logistics support. IAS tailors solutions to customer cost, performance, and schedule requirements and designs to consistently exceed expectations - with an unrivaled record of on time and on (or under) budget deliveries. Responsibilities: Lead SNC's effort to identify, develop, and maintain a technical road map in the Long Range Effects area
Building and maintaining customer technical relationship with key customer representatives and several major suppliers
Assist in building the team including hiring and managing several direct reports
Work with engineering managers and functional engineering leads to recruit, hire, train, and support the engineering team as they execute program design and production activities
Support SNC's engagement with multiple DoD acquisition offices including USAF, Navy, OSD
Develop and deliver competitive technical solutions for DoD customers Must Haves: Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related field and typically 14 or more years of relevant technical experience
Relevant experience may substitute for require education
Thorough understanding of all phases of design lifecycle management to include requirements, design, integration, test, and sustainment
Advanced knowledge and understanding of industry best practices and techniques for program management, science, and engineering programs
Possess advanced technical knowledge and experience; working knowledge of industry trends and historical context
Demonstrated ability to work with senior business and government leaders and to provide leadership within the workplace
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, including the ability to clearly express technical concepts in verbal and written forms; ability to tailor conversations to adapt to technical vs. non-technical audiences
Prior experience developing and maintaining product line technical baselines that support multiple programs, ensuring consistency, continuity, and configuration control
Experience developing technical proposals and cost volumes
Ability to support program and technical reviews, and provide guidance to staff on technical solution synthesis
Familiarity and awareness of emerging technologies relevant to business unit growth through customer engagement and attendance at industry related conferences
Ability to ensure alignment between business unit pursuits & programs, strategic campaigns, focused capture efforts, and BA level Technology Leadership
Relevant experience engaging new potential customers, and collecting and developing requirements for new programs
Experience in utilizing Mission and Operational Analysis to develop new products grounded in high credibility physics based solutions providing new capability to the warfighter
Possess ability to develop initial concepts and scope for new programs
Advanced knowledge and understanding of one or more of the following disciplines: Science and engineering programs, business development, capture management, program management, acquisition processes, opportunity identification and qualification
Working knowledge and experience with various technical matters in support of the exportability, technical determination and release of products and services
Demonstrated passion for ideation and innovation, as well as motivating others to act by creating a shared sense of vision or purpose.
Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and understand complex technical and program interdependencies
Possess a strategic mindset, linking technology and business
Experience in Special Access Program and Sensitive Compartmented Information project execution and management
An active Top Secret with SCI eligibility U.S. Security Clearance is required Preferred: Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field of study DoD or industry experience in USAF or DoD weapon systems and/or UAS development, testing, and operations Functional Management experience (people, processes and tools), including experience hiring, training and mentoring technical teams Superb presentation skills with presentation experience to senior decision-making and technical audiences Experience across all phases of the program life cycle, from capture through design, implementation and test, production, and operation and maintenance Extensive experience developing technology and IRaD (Research and Development) road maps, and seeing them through to completion Ability to establish centralized, coordinating body for program concerns, recommendations, and issues; developing recommended process improvements; facilitating opportunities with corporate Ability to establish new and further refining existing templates, tools, and guidelines for program documentation and execution Experience with ensuring compliance with ISO 9001:2000 Policies and Processes Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense (Civilian), NASA/Civil or commercial space and/or US Military, with an understanding of defense, aerospace, intelligence, and adjacent markets Estimated Starting Salary Range: $221,505.94 - $304,570.67. SNC considers several factors when extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
