The ideal candidate will understand the be familiar with performing tests and experiments to evaluate the performance and quality of various payloads and products. Familiarity with the operation and setup of various instruments, equipment, and testing machinery (both lab and field) is a crucial capability. This role provides support for payload experiments, data collection, and analysis, as well as instrumentation and equipment maintenance. Conducting UAS (drone) aerial surveys of nearshore and riverine environments to test and validate performance of LiDAR products and protypes is a key responsibility of this role. Involvement in performance and development of subsystems is also expected. This role is both inward and outward facing and includes field demonstrations of Lidar payloads and other sensor phenomenology's for customer evaluation as needed. This is a part-time on-call position. Prepare and conduct experiments to test materials and equipment including flight planning and operational CONOPS based on knowledge of desired test outcomes
Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe operational test environment
Collect, analyze, and interpret data from experiments and other tests
Maintain and troubleshoot field test equipment and instruments (payloads, GPS base stations, UAV/UAS/Drone)
Compile and maintain records for experiments, demonstration campaigns, and test results
Assist scientists and engineers in research and development projects including use of specific engineering skills as required
Communicate findings and results to colleagues and superiors
Collaborate with team members to plan and execute experiments and tests
Write reports and presentations detailing findings and recommendations
Qualifications Required Qualifications: FAA Pilot License with minimum of 300 hours flight experience on remote controlled quad-or-hexacopters
BS degree in Engineering discipline with 5 years experience
Ability to travel to support customer demonstrations and program test campaigns
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
Flexible work schedule - this is a part-time, on-call position
Must BE ABLE TO OBTAIN and maintain a TS/SCI clearance
Preferred Qualifications Experience with aerospace flight hardware Assembly, Integration and Test (AI&T)
Coding and troubleshooting experience desirable
