We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Field Technician to add to our dynamic engineering team. This role will support new and ongoing projects for our magnet wire production facilities.

Essential Functions/Duties:

Support of magnet wire manufacturing business using mechanical and related skills and experience. Typical scope of work will include sourcing and/or modifications of existing equipment, commercially available equipment, and development of new and proprietary equipment. Position requires ability to convert concepts into key deliverables to meet specific project objectives and fulfill production needs. Typical project work will include vendor management, contractor management, schedule management, installation execution, commissioning, and post commissioning support. This role will interact with and receive inputs from other technical groups in order to develop full vision of deliverables required to fulfill customer needs. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to have a broad ownership of project work packages which spans conceptualization, design, realization, hands-on execution with full cradle-to-grave ownership of project work packages. This opportunity spans a diverse range of equipment types including but not limited to; conductor forming processes, annealing processes, process heating, packaging, test equipment, and support systems.
  • Provide on-site technical direction during equipment rigging, assembly, mechanical piping, and electrical connections.
  • Coordinate installation, maintenance, commissioning site activities in line with project schedule targets and procedures.
  • Basic troubleshooting, installation, maintenance, and repair on designated equipment.
  • Completing field modifications.
  • Able to understand and utilize Engineering Instructions, Drawings and Process Instructions during the execution of the site activities.
  • Provide input for daily and weekly installation reports.
  • Preparing timely and accurate technical reports as required.
  • Tests and validates new equipment.
  • Maintains records by documenting original system, upgrades, and repairs.
  • Participate in design, development and testing for new products.
  • Coordinate directly with engineers and project managers to understand project requirements, verify design details, and recommend modifications as needed according to company standards and best practices.
  • The ability to lift and carry a toolbox that can weigh up to 50 lbs.
  • Working as a member of the plant and design engineering team to provide efficient service.
  • Able to dispatch on short notice on a regular basis to plant locations.

REQUIRED knowledge/skills/abilities and other minimum qualifications:

At least 5 years' experience in machine assembly, continuous improvement, and operational/functional analysis. Possess an understanding of the following areas: machine design, part and assembly fabrication methods, machine assembly, and rotating equipment design. Successful candidate will have background in one or more of the following areas: machinery development, modification or improvement, troubleshooting, installation, and commissioning. for this position is 250to 75%+ on average with some heavier travel periods per project needs.
  • Experience interfacing with both internal team members and external customers as part of a solution-based service process.
  • A valid driver's license and good driving record is required.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electromechanical equipment. Needs to be able to read and understand electrical/mechanical drawings.
  • Experience troubleshooting and responding to operator concerns.
  • Proven record of being reliable and accountable for all aspects of their job.
  • Proficient level of computer skills including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical issues in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, self-directed, entrepreneurial environment.

Additional Qualifications

Experience related to wire drawing equipment design or similar metal forming processes. 5+ years' experience in an industrial environment with a strong background in facilities and manufacturing. Experience in machine repair and refurbishing. Experience managing contractors and vendors.
