Purpose of this role:

A Maintenance Technician II is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairing production equipment as required, while working with the other members of the team to complete electrical and mechanical projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain production equipment to maximize operating performance and assist with maintaining electrical spare parts inventory levels
  • Perform repairs on equipment to restore them to proper and safe work conditions
  • Perform installation, set up, modification and relocation of equipment to accommodate or improve production requirements
  • Read/write electrical and electronic schematics/diagrams, basic hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams.
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance
  • Ensure the production schedule is not jeopardized due to machine breakdown, or unsafe operating conditions and inform the Maintenance Manager about changes in electric circuits and update original diagrams.
  • Always follow LOCK OUT/ TAG OUT procedure on unsafe machines/machines being serviced.
  • Adhere to work orders, preventive/predictive maintenance systems by filling in required forms and organize the workplace to comply with housekeeping requirements.
  • Perform preventive/predictive maintenance to all production equipment as required.
  • Complete electrical and mechanical projects based on direction given from the Maintenance Supervisor as required by government regulation.
  • Demonstrate safe work practices and follow company safety policies, procedures, and regulations at all times.
  • Initiate and complete all other jobs, projects and special assignments as directed by Maintenance Supervisor
  • Maintain compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and recommend measures to improve health and safety.
  • Repair and replace electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic and electronic components such as motors, contactors, relays, timers, types of switches, PLCs, light curtains, motor controls and valves.

Desired Skills:
  • Able to read wiring diagrams, electrical/mechanical/pneumatic/hydraulic schematics, and ladder/function block logic.
  • Working knowledge of industrial PCs and PLCs (Siemens Step 7, Beckhoff Twin Cat, etc.) and electric circuitry consisting of contactors, relays, main voltage/control voltage, limit switches and proximity sensors
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Desired Traits:
  • Team oriented.
  • High degree of attention to detail, precision and follow through.
  • Willing and able to work rotating shift.
  • Be able to conceive and manage small projects.

Minimum Requirements:
  • At least 3 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing/industrial environment with multiple priorities
  • A certificate from technical trade school, Military experience in lieu of or related subject

Education:
  • High School diploma/GED preferred
