Job Title: Tool Maker (Ashburn, VA) (9/80) (1st Shift) Job Code: 17348 Job Location: Ashburn, VA Job Description: The Agile Development Group in Ashburn, Va is looking for a Tool Maker C that will support the manufacturing of next-generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV). As a Tool Maker C you will work in a dynamic, fast paced R&D and production environment. You will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and modifying a wide variety of tools, fixtures, molds, and components. Required tasks will include additive and subtractive manufacturing of tight tolerance, mission critical parts. Contributors in this role are required to be fully autonomous within the machine shop and will work closely with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and other Manufacturing Functional Areas to develop components and tooling using new designs and/or processes. Essential Functions: Programs, sets up, and operates Mazak 5-axis CNC Machines with tolerances to 0.0005"
Programs, sets up, and operates Stratasys 450 3D printer
Operates various manual machining, sheet metal equipment, and welding equipment
Develops machining processes by analyzing blueprints, sketches, models, and engineering specifications to fabricate and modify parts, tooling, fixtures, etc.
Selects machine control speeds, feeds, and paths of cut based on machine operation, selected cutting tool and machining characteristics of material
Reviews machining tools for obvious signs of wear; performs maintenance, rework, and/or repair of equipment as required
Recommends updates for existing processes and reviews drawings in support of engineering Provides rough estimate of hours for products based on engineering drawings or sketches
Monitors and verifies quality of finished product. Measures parts with various inspection tooling such as micrometers, calipers, etc to verify dimensions Identifies and corrects conditions that affect employee safety; upholding corporate safety standards
Lifting, pushing, pulling and/or carrying 25-50 pounds on a regular basis.
Walking, bending, sitting, standing, climbing, and reaching for prolonged periods of time on a regular basis.
Ability to seize, grasp, turn, hold, and operate manufacturing tools and equipment.
Willingness and ability to work in a manufacturing environment with regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, dust, fumes, chemicals, and loud noises.
Willingness and ability to comply with all applicable PPE requirements (respirators, safety glasses, gloves, etc). Qualifications: Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
Minimum of 6 years' experience with reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and drawings. Knowledge of GD&T.
Minimum of 6 years' experience in reading, editing, and modifying G-code for CNC programming.
Minimum of 6 years' experience with CAD/CAM software. Preferred Additional Skills: Active Secret clearance is desired but not required
Experience working in an environment that implements lean practices
Experience working in an environment that implements ESD and FOD controls
Aerospace or Defense industry experience
Experience with MasterCam and MAZAK machining centers
