Essential Job Functions

Perform walk downs and inspections.

Monitor and analyze operating data. Take action on abnormal engine and plant conditions.

Perform operating tests and inspections, and make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment, as required, to achieve proper operating conditions.

Perform valve alignment in accordance with operating procedures to support start up, shut down or transfer of fluids throughout the plant.

Maintain natural gas conditioning system.

Coordinate with fuel gas supplier and power marketer for dispatch of electrical output to the bulk electric grid.

Troubleshoot and repair mechanical malfunctions on engine/generator set and all other plant equipment.

Monitor and adjust emissions control systems (SCR) and reagent solution injection.

Maintenance and troubleshooting of AC/DC electrical power systems, and electronic and electromechanical control systems.

Coordinate with the remote operations team and dispatch to site as necessary.

Coordinate and manage bulk delivery of oil and urea solution to storage tanks on plant site

Assist in start-up, shutdown and normal operations of power plant systems.

Execute instructions from the Control Room Operator for performing equipment clearances or making equipment/systems ready for service in accordance with operating instructions and procedures, which include system alignments, isolation, clearing, tagging and locking, testing, etc.

Maintain logs as assigned. Log readings will be recorded and reviewed using PI for trend analysis.

Maintain plant cleanliness. Report problem areas to the Operations Manager.

Report any abnormal or irregular conditions that develop during the progress of the work and take corrective measures within the scope of operating instructions.

O&M Technicians who are fully qualified in their position (Step 3) are required to complete the qualification requirements for Control Room Operator. The timeline will be determined by the Plant Manager.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Reliable and predictable attendance is required.

Must maintain a valid, in-state driver's license at all times

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The OMT operates from established and well-known procedures under minimum supervision performing duties independently with only general direction. The OMT encounters recurring work situations of moderate complexity, with occasional variations from the norm. Decisions are made within prescribed operating procedures and guidelines for both normal and abnormal situations.

The OMT must perform work in a safe manner resulting in no accidents, and in compliance with all environmental policy/permits. The OMT must effectively communicate information to supervision and fellow plant personnel relative to the condition of the plant equipment and performance and provide suggestions for plant improvements. The OMT must perform duties that result in an optimum cost-benefit ratio.

All employees have the responsibility to the customer and their co-workers to meet the plant's objectives and customer's needs in both an accurate and timely manner.

Education and Experience:

Ability to understand procedures and instructions, specific to the area of assignment as would be acquired in four years of high school. A.A.S or equivalent from a two-year college or tech school and two years of experience or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. A minimum of two years' experience in power plant operations is desirable. Experience in chemical-handling requirements is required. Theoretical and practical knowledge of combustion turbine operations, industrial safety, hazardous waste management and inspection/recording of plant parameters is highly desirable. Experience with piping and instrument schematics and process controls desirable. Extensive working knowledge of the power plant industry is desirable. Must successfully complete an O&M Technician's knowledge examination.

Working Conditions:

Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, workload and plant conditions. "On call" status will periodically be required during non-scheduled hours for repair & troubleshooting emergencies. Promptly and reliably respond during scheduled on call intervals.

All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening, and random drug screening during employment. Extensive smoking restrictions exist in and around the facility.
